Armed Militia Vows to Protect 77 Year Old Michigan Barber Who Reopened from Arrest
Armed militia members, in the state of Michigan, are vowing to prevent police from forcing the closure of an Owosso barber shop that has opened in defiance of the Michigan’s stay-at-home order. The militia also vowed to prevent authorities from arresting Karl Manke, the 77-year old barber who refuses to close Karl Manke’s Barber & Beauty Shop.
On the evening of Friday May 8th, Michigan State Police delivered a health protection order from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office ordering that Manke close his doors.
On Monday, Daniel Brewer, an Owosso resident, told local News. “Yesterday six troopers came in to enforce the governor’s order or to issue a cease-and-desist order so we are here to make sure he doesn’t get arrested,” Brewer contued by stating “We’re willing to stand in front of that door and block the entrance so the police will have no entry there today.”
As tensions rise between an overreaching government and patriotic protestors who want their rights restored, people like Karl Manke are being let down by the very leaders they are there to help. The behavior of elected officials is resulting in more anger and outrage than government officials anticipated. Manke obeyed the original orders and closed his shop, however, when he was turned down for unemployment two times, Manke said he was left with no other choice but to go back to work to survive.
Shiawassee County Sheriff Brian BeGole said on Monday that his office will not divert primary resources and efforts towards enforcement of the Governor Whitmer executive orders. This Raising doubts about Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s authority to impose a stay-at-home order without the support of the Legislature.
BeGole stated in an open letter to the public “Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels safe and is treated fairly.” The letter went on to say “With limited resources, staffing and facilities, our priority focus will be on enforcing duly passed laws for the protection of Shiawassee County citizens.”
On Facebook, hundreds of opponents of Governor Whitmer’s coronavirus restrictions have expressed their support for Manke and his barber shop as well as their displeasure for Whitmer’s actions.
Zach Bailey posted on the private Facebook page The People of Michigan vs Gov. Gretchen Whitmer “Hopefully the police decide that fucking with pissed off armed men is a bad idea.”
Baby Eno also wrote “Hopefully our Governor doesn’t get anybody killed. Because if someone gets hurt it’s on her,”
Manke told Mid-Michigan Now “For men, haircuts are essential. That’s a fact”
The Michigan Militia appears to be finished with asking for reasonable action by the state in regards to Manke’s business and has drawn a line in the sand in front of Manke’s barbershop.
Will Manke’s situation become Michigan’s Bundy ranch standoff? As history remembers, the federal government tried to confiscate Bundy’s cattle as repayment for an alleged debt. The militia showed up and stood with the ranchers which caused government to retreat without a single shot fired. Bundy was later exonerated in court with the federal government being nationally embarrassed for trying to destroy a small rancher. It was an amazing moment in American history as well as a true example of why we have the second amendment. It serves to remind government who they work for. It reminds our elected officials that their power only goes as far as allowed by We The People. It should remind them that if they use unreasonable force to enforce unjust laws it is not only our right, but our duty as American citizens to meet force with equal or greater force.
Lockdown orders are being challenged in courts across America as business owners grow tired of government over reach and are in need of a way to feed their families and pay their employees. Some are risking jail, like salon-owner Shelley Luther in Dallas, who was released by order of the Supreme Court of Texas after a leftist judge imprisoned her for defying lockdown orders. Manke has made it clear that nothing will stop him from cutting hair. “I don’t need the governor to be my mother,” Manke stated.
